Civic Museum

A first stop can be Municipio square, with a statue of the patron Saint Andrew in front of the entrance to the Palace of the Municipality, located in the ancient Benedictine convent dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

On the first floor of the building there is the Civic Museum with interesting testimonies of the history of the town and the drawings of the precious mosaic on the front of the facade of the Cathedral by Domenico Morelli.

A few steps from the Town Hall the church of St. Mary Major can be found, built by Duke Mansone I in 986 and one of the oldest sacred buildings in the city. It houses a statue of Our Lady of the Assumption much venerated by the people of Amalfi.

Museo

Un interessante spaccato della storia della Repubblica e del Ducato di Amalfi, con le magnifiche tavole preparatorie del mosaico sul frontone del Duomo. Il Museo è visitabile durante l’orario di apertura degli uffici comunali. L’ingresso è libero
